Christian Recovery Home for Men

My Father’s House of Freedom Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, was founded March, 1998 as a vision to reach out to men who are trapped by their addiction to drugs and/or alcoholism, and to provide a safe, healthy home while exposing them to the grace, mercy, and power of God.  We have two houses located at 826 North West Street in Jackson, Mississippi, The Dell Barnett Hall and the Jim Hitt Hall.  Currently, we have the capacity to house and assist twenty-two men.

The program requires a minimum residency commitment of six months. The first two weeks of the program are used to get to know the men and to help identify some of the issues that will need to be addressed as part of their healing and growth process.

There is an admittance fee to participate in the program due with the submission of an application.  There is also a weekly fee that covers the following expenses: food, housing, counseling sessions, meetings, up-keep of the ministry, job skills development, and placement for unemployed residents.

Our goal is to foster an atmosphere that is conducive to promoting a healthy environment that will enable participants to face their addiction, understand reasons and causes for their addiction, and create a plan of action to be healthy and responsible to self and family.  As a transitional facility, our objective is to take men whom at one time were burdens to society because of their addictions, and help them to develop a healthy sense of self and to become productive members of society.

Residents are required to attend AA/NA meetings weekly.  In addition to the AA/NA meetings, there are also in-house bible study, personal development, life changing skills, spiritual awareness and accountability group sessions, family mediation, job skill development and placement, conflict resolution, and in-house counseling.  Resident attendance for meetings and sessions are mandatory.

The foundation of our ministry is a spiritual twelve step program.  This spiritual journey is a personal guide to understanding, to rediscovering, and deepening the spiritual part of oneself.  The program teaches how to live according to the guidance of God.  Residents discover that the basic part of their problem is the void or despair felt as the result of ignoring or rejecting their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Residents of My Father’s House of Freedom are supervised, but the responsibility for their recovery, as well as their spirituality, is in their hands.  We will help each man on an individual basis, but at no time will we enable anyone to obtain assistance from us that will lead him back to his former habits.

Most of all, we at My Father’s House of Freedom believe all this can be accomplished through a healthy spiritual and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
